CORS
Meaning in software engineering, with examples
In software engineering, CORS means: Cross-Origin Resource Sharing: browser rules that let a server say which other websites (origins) may read its responses through JavaScript.
In Turkish: CORS, kökenler arası kaynak paylaşımı
How it is used
Pronounced as one word, 'cors'. The famous 'blocked by CORS policy' error appears when a front end calls an API on another domain that doesn't send the right Access-Control-Allow-Origin header. It is fixed on the server, not in the browser.
Example sentences
The API works in Postman but fails in the browser with a CORS error.
Ask the back-end team to allow our domain in the CORS settings.
Common collocations
