PoE, ağ teknolojilerinde Ethernet üzerinden güç, PoE anlamına gelir.
Power over Ethernet'in kısaltması: elektrik gücünü ve veriyi aynı Ethernet kablosu üzerinden taşıyan teknoloji; böylece erişim noktaları, IP telefonlar ve kameralar gibi cihazlar ayrı bir güç kaynağına ihtiyaç duymaz.
English: Short for Power over Ethernet: a technology that sends electrical power and data over the same Ethernet cable, so devices such as access points, IP phones and cameras need no separate power supply.
Nerede ve nasıl kullanılır?
Harf harf okunur. Mühendisler switch'in PoE bütçesini (verebileceği toplam güç), cihazın ihtiyaç duyduğu PoE standardını (802.3af, at ya da bt) ve portun gerçekten güç verip vermediğini kontrol eder. PoE bütçesi dolan bir switch yeni cihazları besleyemez. Türkçede de genellikle 'PoE' denir: PoE'li switch, PoE destekli port.
